The partnership between Montclair and Graz is one of the oldest town-twinning schemes of the City of Graz. The City of Graz considers students who spend an academic year in Montclair to be outstanding ambassadors of Graz.
Montclair State University was founded in 1908 and is a public university, financed by the State of New Jersey. Both undergraduate and graduate students can apply for this programme but studnets are only allowed to enroll in undergraduate courses.
Colleges/Schools:
The university campus is situated in close proximity to the city of Montclair and has very good bus connections to New York City (approx. 20 km away).
Only about one third of the approx. 21.000 students live on campus. The Graz students are accommodated on campus, which offers very good sports and cultural possibilities and facilities.
Graz students, like their fellow American students, complete 12 semester hours, although the Graz scholarship holders have a free choice of courses. As at every American university, there is generally compulsory attendance for all courses.
